The black circle things
The lab we did yesterday after class made little to no sense. The basis of it was taking two blacked out petri dishes and having a shape in them. In this shape there is a ball that we can move around and we try to find out the shape in the dishes. Somehow this relates to chemistry, if it does then it was a deep learning experience. Though it was a confusing relationship with the lesson I still quite enjoyed it because it made no sense and we had to figure it out. I'll give it a Preahdeths Revenge out of Gallahorn.

I agree, that lab was confusing. I think the purpose of it, however, was to gain an understanding of just how difficult it would be to discover what atoms look like considering their microscopic size. I can still barely imagine what kind of effort that would take!
ReplyDeleteI concur with Erik on this. The balls were meant to represent electrons and the way we flipped and flopped the disk around was like how electrons move in a cloud: crazily! I thought it was more of less for fun rather than a "deep learning experience," but yeah, it was definitely fun.
ReplyDeleteI thought that activity was fun, but also kind of unnecessary. I didn't really understand the point of it. Also, I like that Destiny reference, but I personally prefer the LDR to Praedyth's Revenge.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Jack, I did not understand the point of this experiment. I found myself very confused the whole time thought because I could not figure it out. Maybe it was to get us thinking
